Fall is almost here and along with pumpkin spice flavored everything comes to fall foliage. Fall is the perfect time to plan an RV trip before storing your RV for the long winter. Here are some great fall foliage destinations on the East Coast where you can take in natures beauty.

Shenandoah National Park in Virginia is one of the nation’s premier fall foliage viewing destinations. The park is best known for Skyline Drive, a 105-mile road that runs the entire length of the park and is dotted by beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking vistas. Rock climbing and horseback riding are popular activities and tourist attractions like the Luray Caverns make for a memorable vacation you won’t forget!

Tioga County, PA and nearby Potter County, PA in Northcentral Pennsylvania is a paradise for leaf lookers. The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania located just outside of Wellsboro, PA in Tioga County offers stunning views of fall foliage in a 47-mile gorge that sits on 160,000 acres of state forest. Potter County is also known for its wildlife and beautiful scenery, but the area also has the added distinction of being dubbed the best place on earth to stargaze. Head to the Night Sky Viewing Area in Cherry Springs State Park to enjoy the tens of thousands of stars twinkling in the night sky. Both counties have thousands of acres of state forest and are a great place for tourists to enjoy camping, hiking, and fishing in a pristine wilderness.

The 469 mile Blue Ridge Parkway in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is world renowned for its plant and animal diversity and is a beautiful place to visit any time of year, however, autumn truly makes the region stand out.

Most people think of battlefields when they think of Gettysburg, PA but the area is also home to the beautiful autumn scenery. Drive through “Apple Country” and view acres of apple orchards or check out the self-guided Scenic Valley Tour and view 36 miles of orchards and historic landmarks. Gettysburg is also a great place to get into the Halloween spirit, with many activities connected to the paranormal including ghost walks and haunted tours.

If you like to see foliage from above the tree lines, the 6,000 square miles that make up the Catskills Mountains in southeastern New York may be for you. Boasting 35 mountain peaks over 3,500 feet tall and numerous lookout points, you can have a birds-eye view of the scenery. The Catskills is also home to the Hudson River School of Art Trail and the Mountain Top Arboretum.

When you have finished your fall travels, check out STORExpress for RV storage.
