Irish or not, who can resist a good beer and some dancing with friends? Given that 14% of the Pittsburgh population is Irish, the “burgh” knows how to pull out all the stops and throw St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Below are the top events for those who are either new to the city, or who simply want to pull out their green attire and nibble on some Irish soda bread.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Typically attracting over 200,000 spectators, the St. Patrick’s day parade is a tradition for the whole family to enjoy. Stretching from downtown, through the strip district, this parade hosts roughly 200 marching units, bands, and floats. Visit the Parking authority website to plan out parking options. Be prepared to park early to allow for enough time to walk to the event and find a good spot. If you live near a T Station, save time and aggravation by utilizing the city’s public transportation.
Party in the Garden
Celebrate in the heart of downtown at the Wintergarden at PPG Place. Enjoy specialty Irish food and drinks, surrounded by the lush glass surroundings for the Wintergarden. Located just steps from Market Square, attendees will sip on the classics of Jameson and Fireball while listening to live music from The Bachelor Boys and more. Visit allevents to reserve your spot today.
Kegs and Eggs
We can’t think of a better way to start the morning than with bottomless mimosas and a full Irish breakfast. Visit Revel for an exclusive “Kegs and Eggs” party that includes a two-hour open bar from 7am-9am. For information on ticket pricing and availability, visit showlix.
